After two weeks of neck-and-neck voting, Tom O’Connell is the winner of the recent Our Town, Our Heroes round!
Nominated by his sister-in-law JoAnn Reilly, Tom is a humble Chicago fireman who saved the life of a little boy, but, rather than basking in the spotlight, he recognized his colleagues instead. O’Connell’s steadfast humility, caring spirit and committed work ethic shine brightly to JoAnn and many others, and she describes Tom as “a true hero.”
Tom and JoAnn will both receive one-week loans of a Chevrolet, Buick, GMC or Cadillac vehicle.
The runner-up is Raijean Stroud, nominated by her sister Sa’Rah Stroud. Sa’Rah nominated Raijean for her commitment to heart disease advocacy and education. Having endured two surgeries but never losing her sparkle, Raijean is dedicated to helping young people understand heart disease and how to minimize their risk, while still maintaining a lifestyle blog and raising a child. The Stroud sisters will both receive one-week loans.
