Congratulations, Mike, Our Newest Hero Winner!

The votes are in! After two weeks of close voting, the Our Town, Our Heroes coaches and mentors winner is Mike Younie!
Hailing from Aurora, Ill., Mike works with local Special Olympics athletes and has represented Special Olympics Illinois at the statewide, national and international level, traveling to Greece for the World Games in 2011.
Nominator Jen Clark writes, “Mike exemplifies the best of Special Olympics. He is kind and gracious with his athletes and strives daily to teach and coach them to their fullest potential…A husband, father, coach, mentor and friend to all, Mike constantly gives back and is the epitome of what a hometown hero should be.”

Mike and Jen will both receive one-week loans of Chevrolet vehicles.
The runner-up in this round is Bril Barret from Chicago. Bril was nominated by his wife LaTrice, who describes Bril as a passionate mentor through his M.A.D.D. Rhythms organization and “someone who dedicates his life to making a positive difference in the lives of our youth through the art of tap dance.” Both Bril and LaTrice will receive one-week loans to celebrate their achievement.
