On Saturday, my family was blessed to spend the day at the Magnificent Mile Festival of Lights as guests of Chevrolet. The Festival is an all-day event featuring concerts, games and crafts, shopping and food that culminates with a tree-lighting parade on Michigan Avenue and fireworks display over the Chicago River.

Pioneer Court was buzzing with activity as Olivia Holt and Shane Harper from Radio Disney performed. The music was great, the weather was perfect and we had fun singing and dancing! Following the performance, Chevrolet supplied us with wristbands to meet-and-greet both Harper and Holt. My kids were beyond star-struck.

We, of course, stopped by the Chevrolet vehicle display and checked out the featured Chevrolet Traverse, Chevrolet Malibu and Chevrolet Spark. My daughter was in love and couldn’t decide which car she wanted more. I kept to myself about the Spark coming in a color called “Techno-Pink!”

Chevrolet had also made arrangements for our family to actually participate in the parade! A Chevrolet 2013 Camaro was used as the official parade pace car, while larger Chevrolet vehicles pulled several of the heavier floats. It was decided that we would walk behind the pace car dressed in our Chevrolet hats and hand out glow sticks to the crowd, lighting the way for Mickey and Minnie Mouse.

It’s an incredible feeling to walk down the middle of Michigan Avenue with hundreds of thousands of people cheering and screaming. We had a wonderful, busy, amazing day filled with friends and once-in-a-lifetime experiences. Words cannot express how grateful my family is for the opportunity to represent Chevrolet at this amazing event. I’m still pinching myself!
