GM Family Quest: Cruisin’ Through the ‘Burbs!

Last Friday, we hosted the GM Family Quest, a half-day of fun for three Chicago-area mommy bloggers and their families. Moms behind the blogs Tales from the Crib, Wee Windy City and Tiaras and Tantrums had their choice of General Motors vehicles  for the day, and packed their kids and a friend into a Chevrolet Traverse, Chevrolet Suburban and GMC Yukon. Teams were given activity checklists for each location, as well as some fun tasks to complete while cruising in the vehicles. At the end of the day, the team with the most completed activities was crowned our GM Family Quest Champion!

The Family Questers began the day at the Morton Arboretum in Lisle, making their way through a maze garden and going on a snack hunt in the vehicles. The day’s journey then led the teams to Dragonfly Landing Splash Pad, where the kids cooled off in the water and dried off with official Our Town, Our Heroes towels!  The final stop was a trip to the DuPage Children’s Museum in Naperville, where teams worked together to spell “Hero” with different shapes and complete a number of other challenges. Throughout the day, some of the kid Questers told the Driving the Midwest team why their moms are heroes.

After adventures at the locations, teams enjoyed a pizza party and competed in a tie-breaker quiz to name the winning team. The Family Quest victors received the grand prize of a year-long pass to all American Children’s Museums. Since all of our Questers are winners, each child got a special toy surprise while the entire family received a week-long loan of a General Motors vehicle and a Red Robin gift card. . As a special thank-you to the mom bloggers, General Motors provided them with tickets to Six Flags Great America for one final summer hurrah!
