The GM Veterans Affinity Group and the UAW at the Customer Care and Aftersales Redistribution Center (RDC) in Willow Run, Mich., put together a tribute to the U.S. soldiers who lost their lives in Iraq and Afghanistan during Operation Enduring Freedom. The inaugural “Field of Flags” event was intended to remind everyone of the sacrifices made by the military. Watch the video to see the emotional event that included raising a flag that once flew over the U.S. Army 1st Battalion in Maimanah, Afghanistan, and the planting of nearly 2,000 flags representing each U.S. soldier who lost his or her life during Operation Enduring Freedom.

At the conclusion of the ceremony, GM employee and military veteran Jeannette Holland, accompanied by Senior Chief Petty Officer Don Gore, presented the ceremonial flag to GM North America Vice President of Customer Care & Aftersales Steve Hill. The flag flew over a U.S. military base in Afghanistan.
