Good Deed of the Week

Last week, I was on my routine commute to work when I noticed something out of the ordinary at the train station. Instead of people standing in line at the coffee shop, they were gathered on the train platform. As I approached the crowd, I saw two young children selling assorted baked goods and bottled water. I thought it was a school bake sale, but was surprised when one child mentioned they were raising money to send care packages to their dad’s military troop in Afghanistan.
This wasn’t the only good deed I witnessed that morning. After chatting with the two young boys for a few minutes, I learned the baked goods were donated by their neighbors. I also noticed each person who bought something gave extra money to support the boys’ cause. It was amazing to see how much good came from such a simple, yet meaningful, idea.
