Ashley Coleman is the Final Hero Winner of 2011!
Throughout 2011, we met a group of very inspiring people who we are proud to call our heroes. As we close out the year, it is time to name our final hero winner and recognize him or her for the work they do.
The final round of Our Town, Our Heroes featured four outstanding individuals, all serving their communities without ever expecting praise or recognition. We needed you to help us choose our final hero of the year, and after tallying up the votes, we are proud to announce Ashley Coleman as the winner!
Ashley is a hero not only because of her service with the Illinois Army National Guard, but also because of her dedication to helping area homeless and youth. Both Ashley and her nominator, Amanda Jackson, will receive a special hero package that will include a week in a Chevrolet, Buick, GMC or Cadillac vehicle and a full tank of gas!

Ashley has inspired East St. Louis and surrounding communities through her continuing selfless service. Along with serving in the Illinois Army National Guard, Ashley strives to help those in need by donating to food pantries and providing clothing for the homeless. She has continued to devote her time and effort to work with the youth within the city of East St. Louis through educational workshops to prepare them for college. She gives everyone a sense of hope through encouragement. She is not just a true hero, but a young lady who works hard to inspire and motivate others.
