Recognize a local hero for the chance to receive a one-week vehicle loan. Introducing the Our Town, Our Heroes program!

The word “hero” can mean a lot of things to different people – a local soldier serving overseas, a neighborhood mom planning a clothing drive, the off-duty police officer who helps shovel driveways after every snowstorm, or your neighbor who offered a listening ear during a tough time. We want to recognize the heroes that are driving your communities, whether it’s with grand gestures or the daily acts of kindness that often go unnoticed, with the new Our Town, Our Heroes program.

Beginning today (February 16), Illinois residents can nominate those who are inspirational to them through the Our Town, Our Heroes program. Every two weeks, we will select five finalists and then YOU can log on to vote for your favorite. The winning hero and the person who nominated them, will both receive a one-week loan of an all-new General Motors vehicle, a full tank of gas, and a challenge to keep inspiring and driving positive change!

Know a hometown hero who has inspired you and your community? We want to hear about it! Please send an email to hero@drivingthemidwest.com with a description of why the person you are nominating is a local hero and how he/she inspires you. Your nomination should not exceed one hundred fifty (150) words in length and should be included as an attachment to the email.  In addition, please include a photo of the hero being nominated and the full name, preferred phone number, email address, city and state of residence for yourself and the Hero you’re nominating, as well as a brief description of how you heard about the program; failure to include the requested information may result in disqualification.  All nominated individuals must be at least twenty-one (21) years of age or older and a resident of Illinois.

To be included in this round of consideration, please submit your entry by Tuesday, February 22! We look forward to reading your submissions! Five finalists will be chosen and featured here by February 25.
