This Saturday, automotive enthusiasts from around the world will gather in Southeast Michigan for the Woodward Dream Cruise. The Dream Cruise began in 1995 as a fundraiser for a local soccer field, recreating the heyday of classic cars cruising down Woodward Avenue, America’s first highway. Nearly 250,000 people participated in the inaugural event.
Since then, the Woodward Dream Cruise has evolved into the world’s largest one-day automotive event. More than 1.5 million people and 40,000 classic American cars from across the globe are expected to participate this weekend. Along with marveling at old-school rides, attendees can also explore the rich history of the Motor City, visit displays from Detroit’s Big Three and participate in the “Cruise in Shoes” 5K race.
